Today I was doing quick post for “web hosting” just to check out how some of my optimization is settling. I was pleased to see a new google implementation for their search results page. I noticed that at the bottom of that query there was 3 entries pulled from blogsearch.google.com.

See results I found here:

So why is Googles new implementation worth posting here? Simple, this implementation has opened up an entirely new opportunity to optimize a site to get onto the home page. From an SEO firm standpoint this is a great new opportunity to sell optimization for blogsearch.google.com (if this implementation STAYS around). As an add on you could push clients to create blogs in order be listed periodically on the home page of google for a given search term.

This would give SEOs a faster way to optimize client sites onto the home page of google and since blog reading has become such an online sensation I am sure this little box will draw much attention to the novice and expert searcher.

From an independant seo/site owner, this is a great way for you to advertise your site with little to know effort which will draw more traffic and if done correctly will create higher conversions.

I cannot believe that all of this is even possible in this day and age. Shoemoney posts mybloglog hacks and exploits. Eric gets pissed and bans Shoe and then major players in search boycott Mybloglog in hopes to get Shoe back into mybloglog. Eric apologizes and admits he is wrong.

WTF!!!!

Is the only reason Eric is apologizing because major players in search are NOT placing the mbl widget on their site? I mean perhaps he made a judgement call that was less then ideal but if eric made the decision to ban another blogger for the same reason instead of banning shoe would the blog community REALLY stand behind that blogger like they did Shoe? Probably NOT!

If this happend to an average blogger would industry professionals even care enough to post a “boycott”? I seriously doubt it! The fact that shoe has friends in high places makes his scope of influence much greater then any small time blogger. It makes me feel good inside to think that power players would make such an ordeal for the average joe but that is just not real life.

The only thing that the mybloglog boycott will accomplish is making eric unban shoe but at the very LEAST this whole ordeal has increased the popularity of mybloglog and in a month no one will remember this situation.

In my opinion both Shoe and Eric are in the wrong.

Shoe posted and promoted the use of hacks and exploits on mybloglog. After his posts hundreds of people would have manipulated mybloglog which is definitely a banable offense (if an average blogger did this and caused many people to hack mybloglog there would be NO question of a ban). It would have been good for him to email eric first and then make the post OR make his post but leave out the DETAILS on how to do it.

Eric, you should have never banned him unless you where going to stick to your guns. Now it looks like you can be pushed around.

I have been doing a lot of reading over at shoemoney.com about mybloglog hacks. Jeremy has been, in my opinion, helping mybloglog fix possible exploits but with all of the noise he has been causing I think they got a little upset and banned him from mybloglog.

How to get banned from mybloglog:

7.Use co-author spam
6.Leave spam messages
5.Build programs that automate friend requests
4.Build programs that create multiple accounts on mybloglog
3.Use hacks that enable you to browse sites as another user
2.Utilizing scripts to create dynamic functions without a user’s approval
and now…
1.Publishing mybloglog hacks and encouraging readers to do these hacks

Jeremy Schoemaker was banned for this and officially Mybloglog made this public response to jeremy’s ban.

“To be clear — we did not ban shoemoney for posting about exploits. Although we would certainly have appreciated that he email us first, it’s his decision where he would like to publish them. We banned him for publishing other people’s data on the site and urging readers to spoof them. On what planet is that not a bannable offense?”

Something to keep in mind
