Today I read on the daily times that myspace has released a news portion called myspace news that is a lot like digg.com. Members of the social networking site myspace will be able to vote on stories to help make them popular so more members can find them. This idea is the premise of digg.com but what is interesting is that myspace has created an algorithm that spiders news sites and other related sites for content and then catagorizes them for the viewer. The viewer will then vote on the article which will either bounce the article up or burry the article much like digg.com.

When asked about myspace news the president of Myspace had this to say:

“MySpace News is designed to let users decide what’s most relevant to them,” said MySpace president Tom Anderson.

“We’re putting it to the community to be the editorial engine driving our news service.”

I just recently redesigned my personal myspace page to look more branded to my blog so since I am already working on my space I will be playing with this new feature more today.

Its interesting to see myspace jump into another facut of social media as a lot of attention has died off recently and this should bring a new life back to their network… hopefully.
